About the school
This welcoming, co-educational day school in the heart of Addis Ababa educates children from Nursery through to Year 13. Its community is truly international, with students from Ethiopia and many other countries, so your classroom will be a rich mix of languages, cultures and perspectives, which makes it an inspiring place for a modern foreign languages teacher.
Years 5 to 9 follow the English National Curriculum, giving you a clear, well-structured framework and the freedom to bring your own creativity and enthusiasm to your lessons. Students then progress to the IGCSE in Years 10 and 11 and on to the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13, so your teaching feeds directly into a respected academic pathway. The school puts each child at the centre, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, clear communication and a commitment to others. It aims to prepare young people to be effective global citizens, and staff work in a supportive, collaborative environment where every student is known and valued as an individual.

About Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa is a lively, fast-growing capital and the diplomatic heart of Africa. It is home to the African Union and many embassies and international organisations, so the expatriate community is large and welcoming, and new arrivals quickly find their feet. At around 2,400 metres above sea level, the city enjoys a mild, spring-like climate for much of the year, with sunny days and cool, fresh evenings.
Daily life is full of culture and flavour. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, and the traditional coffee ceremony is a warm part of social life. You can enjoy injera and rich local stews, along with plenty of international restaurants and cafés, and explore the bustling Merkato market and the National Museum, home to the famous fossil known as Lucy. Ethiopian Airlines’ major hub makes travel across Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia easy, while the Entoto Hills, the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and the Simien Mountains offer adventure within reach. For a teacher who loves culture and travel, it is an extraordinary place to live and work.
