chk Education is supporting an established international school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in the search for an experienced and inspirational Head of Whole School Creative Arts.
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative arts leader who can inspire students across the school, develop a strong and engaging arts provision, and contribute to a vibrant international learning environment.

About the school
The school is a well-established international school serving students from Early Years through to secondary level. It provides an English-medium education within a diverse international community and places a strong emphasis on critical inquiry, creative thinking, clear communication and developing globally minded students.
The primary programme follows the UK National Curriculum, with creative arts forming an important part of students’ wider learning. At secondary level, students follow Cambridge IGCSE programmes before progressing to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school has been an authorised IB World School since 1994 and offers a broad range of creative and extracurricular opportunities.

The city sits at approximately 2,355 metres above sea level, giving it a relatively mild climate compared with many other African capitals.
Teachers relocating to Addis Ababa can experience a fascinating mix of Ethiopian culture, international communities, distinctive cuisine and access to the country’s rich history and natural landscapes.

Required qualifications

  • A recognised teaching qualification and valid teaching licence, such as PGCE, QTS or a US teaching licence
  • A relevant degree and teaching qualification in Creative Arts, Art, Music, Drama or a related discipline
  • Proven experience teaching within an international or British curriculum environment
  • Previous leadership or responsibility for creative arts provision would be highly desirable
