A British international school located in Alexandria, Egypt, are seeking a dynamic, passionate Principal to join their established school: January 2025.

Position Overview:
Join an established British international school with a warm, inclusive community, located in Alexandria, Egypt. Following the departure of a dedicated principal returning to the UK, the school seeks an inspiring leader to continue its tradition of academic excellence and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will be a team player and a true academic with a focus on:

  • Enhancing teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Developing professional growth opportunities for staff.
  • Overseeing the effective placement and performance of teaching staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively engaging with students to foster a love of learning.
  • Promoting British culture and values.
  • Building strong, transparent communication with parents.

The principal will collaborate closely with the Egyptian Vice Principal (officially recognized as Head of School by the Ministry of Education), the school’s leadership team, and key stakeholders, including the owner’s representative and school director.

Responsibilities:

  1. Student Engagement & Assemblies
    • Engage regularly with students, promoting their academic and personal development.
    • Lead school assemblies, ensuring they align with British cultural values and the school’s mission.
    • Address student concerns and provide guidance to support their success.
  2. Promote British Culture & Language
    • Act as an ambassador for British values, ensuring they are embedded in the school’s culture and curriculum.
    • Encourage the use of the English language in all aspects of school life, while promoting respect and diversity.
  3. Parent Communication & Conflict Resolution
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, ensuring open and clear communication.
    • Address parental concerns promptly and effectively, handling conflicts with a focus on positive outcomes for all parties involved.
  4. Professional Development (PD) for Staff
    • Organize and run face-to-face PD training sessions for teachers and staff, focusing on their ongoing professional development.
    • Ensure that staff training aligns with both the school’s goals and British educational standards.
  5. Leadership Team Meetings
    • Lead regular senior leadership team meetings to discuss strategy, evaluate progress, and address any operational or academic challenges.
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement school policies and initiatives.
  6. Curriculum Oversight & Development
    • Ensure the school’s curriculum aligns with British educational standards and is regularly updated to meet the needs of students.
    • Oversee the implementation of new teaching methods and materials that support the curriculum and enhance student learning.
  7. Staff Leadership & Performance Management
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to all school staff, ensuring high levels of motivation and performance.
    • Conduct regular staff evaluations, providing feedback and identifying areas for improvement and professional growth.
  8. Student Behavior & Discipline
    • Establish and enforce behavior policies that reflect British values and promote a positive, respectful school environment.
    • Work with staff to ensure consistent discipline practices that support student well-being and personal development.
  9. Health, Safety, and Well-being
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff by adhering to health and safety regulations.
    • Promote a safe and supportive school environment that encourages emotional and social development.
  10. External Relations & Representation
    • Represent the school in the wider community, acting as a key spokesperson for the institution.
    • Establish and maintain partnerships with other educational institutions, organizations, and local authorities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant teaching qualification and leadership certification (e.g., NPQH, MBA in Education).
  • Significant leadership experience, preferably in an international or British curriculum setting.
  • Track record of improving academic outcomes and staff performance.
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of culturally responsive teaching practices and the ability to lead diverse teams of educators.
